Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how SoundVisualiser (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and retains information when you use the SoundVisualiser website and services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Policy. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Content you provide — the audio files, images/logos, titles, and other material you upload, and the videos rendered from them (“User Content”).
- Payment information — when you subscribe, payments are handled by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number; we store a Stripe customer/subscription reference and your plan, status, and billing period.
- Usage & account data — render counts and quota usage, plan, created/expiry timestamps, saved presets, and publish status of clips.
- Technical data — basic request information such as IP address (used for rate-limiting and security) and your session cookie.
2. How we use information
- To provide, operate, and improve the Service (account creation, rendering, storage, downloads, publishing).
- To process subscriptions, billing, cancellations, and refunds through Stripe.
- To enforce plan limits, render quotas, and our Terms, and to detect abuse, fraud, or prohibited content.
- To communicate with you about your account, transactions, support, and important service or policy changes (sent via our email provider, Brevo).
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests and copyright notices.
3. Cookies
We use a single, essential, HTTP-only session cookie to keep you signed in. It is not used for advertising. Disabling it will prevent you from logging in.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing & subscription management | Email, payment details (handled by Stripe), billing metadata |
| Brevo | Transactional & account emails | Email address, message content |
| Cloud storage (e.g. S3-compatible) | Storing & serving published clips and assets | Rendered videos / images you publish |
| Hosting / infrastructure | Running the Service | All of the above, as needed to operate |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, to respond to valid copyright or legal requests, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or us. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Data retention
- Rendered clips are kept for a limited period based on your plan (for example, 7 days on the free tier and 30 days on paid plans), after which they are automatically deleted.
- Published clips are kept indefinitely so that public share links keep working, until you (or we) remove them.
- Uploaded source files (audio/images) are removed after processing or shortly thereafter.
- Account data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for legal, accounting, and fraud-prevention purposes.
6. Your rights & choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can update your email and manage your subscription from your account, delete your clips at any time, and request account deletion by contacting us. We will respond consistent with applicable law. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including password hashing, signed HTTP-only session cookies, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International transfers
Our providers (such as Stripe and Brevo) may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
